Detection of radioactive iodine at trace levels in Europe in January 2017

American radiation detection aircraft have reportedly been spotted over the UK flying out of RAF Mildenhall according to the Gazette.

Probably nothing to worry about. This aircraft has been flying round since Feb 17th and we’ve not heard anything substantial about it so far.

Probably another Doris in a Teacup.

Trace amounts of radioactive iodine have been found at ground level in small quantities. This could be due to un-sanctioned military testing or radiation residues caused by an industrial incident. As yet there seems only to be speculation on the subject.  This map shows the areas where the radiation has been found, although we’re safe in Blackpool for the time being!
