Safety concerns about strong wind have lead to the cancellation of a local kite festival.

Kite Festival Called Off

Fylde borough Council have announced that this weekends kite festival will have to be called off due to concerns over a Met office weather warning.

The event is an annual occurrence attracting many visitors to St. Annes to celebrate with their kites in the air. It is unclear whether the festival will be re-arranged for another weekend this year or whether its cancelled altogether.

Some locals have suggested that the Weather warning for Wind could possibly affect this weekends planned Blackpool Air Show Which could see Aircraft cancelling displays due to the forecast adverse weather conditions. No-Fly Zone

Local Drone pilots should take note that despite the forecast difficult wind conditions which would make it hazardous to fly – there is also a no fly zone in place this weekend meaning that drones should not be flown at all in the area detailed in the picture below. The police are now responsible for enforcing any drone related issues and have already started issuing cautions and fines to people who flout the law.
