Minute Silence For Frontline Staff Who Have Lost Their Lives

UNISON, the Royal College of Nursing and the Royal College of Midwives are calling upon everyone across the UK to join them in a 1 minute’s silence to remember those key workers who have lost their lives to covid-19.

The 1 minute silence is planned to take place at 11am on April 28th.

Whilst 2020 had been set to be the International Year of The Nurse and the Midwife, this is most certainly not what anyone imagined that would look like.

Unison general secretary Dave Prentis said: “This is the ultimate tribute to remember workers who’ve lost their lives and put themselves in harm’s way to keep us safe and vital services running.

Every year the sacrifice of workers around the world is recognised, but this year has a special significance because of the pandemic.”

Royal College of Nursing general secretary Donna Kinnair said: “We’ve become used to hearing a great roar on a Thursday night for key workers, but this respectful silence will be a poignant reminder of the risks they run to keep us safe.

“I hope the public gets behind this with the same affection they show when applauding our people.”

Here at the BPL Bible, we’d like to thank all those key workers who are working fearlessly and tirelessly to keep our country running, providing services, products and care to the nation.  All those who literally are putting their lives on the line day by day.  We’ve seen over the past few weeks how this virus does not seem to discriminate.  Whilst there are people who have a higher risk due to their age or health, many who were otherwise healthy and live a healthy lifestyle have sadly lost their lives too.

We fully support the 1 minute’s silence and we hope that the people of Blackpool will observe this sign of respect too.
