As of today – Blackpool’s Saddest Christmas Tree is no more.
Blackpool Council workers were seen clearing the site earlier today using a large truck with an articulating arm and bucket – known as a grab truck or a grabber.
The large truck was perched atop short blocks of wood which were sinking deep into the wet ground.
3 workers were on the site and as you can see at the end of this tiktok video – another Blackpool Council vehicle was also present.
@thebplbible The end of the line for Blackpools saddest Christmas tree
So now that the sad tree has been removed – the race is on to replace it ready for the big switch on event happening this Friday.
Layton Community Christmas Lights’ Switch On
The event advertised on Facebook is due to take place starting from 5:30 on Friday the 25th of November.
At approx 5:30 Westcliffe drive will be completely closed to traffic until 7pm to allow crowds to gather around the tree.
Visitors will get a chance to visit Layton’s very own version of the famous advert – the Rola-Cola truck!
The event will also feature festive music from Blackpool Brass, Blackpool Music Service Community Choir and the choirs from Trinity Parish and Christ The King school.
Indoor Market
The Layton is situated at the opposite end of the road to the christmas tree and will be host to an indoor christmas market ran in conjunction with the festive switch on event.
