Highbury Morris Dancers are a fluffy Morris dancing troupe based in Fleetwood, Lancashire.
Their co-founders and principles are Sharni Bovill and Aimee Brookes.
With over 40 years of dancing experience between them, and multiple medals to their names (as dancers and trainers).
The troupe were inspired by the work that Fleetwood Town community trust have done with engaging the community with health and education programmes. They decided on the name Highbury Morris Dancers, as not only do they practice every Wednesday and Thursday at St Nicholas Church Hall, Highbury Avenue, Fleetwood; but they also aspire to engage with Fleetwood Town in the near future and hopefully provide some support for the excellent community programmes they currently offer.
Whilst being in lockdown, though The Troupe haven’t been able to practice but have managed to do a lot of organisation work. This includes applying for grants, finding a dancing organisation to compete in next dance season and even making their own shakers.
Within the past couple of weeks they have started to advertise the troupe on social media. The team report that initial response has been OVERWHELMING to say the least, and they now have over 70 dancers committed to the troupe whom can’t wait to start practice.
Starting from scratch, they have been doing their best to raise funds for the troupe as they are a non-profit organisation.
These funds have been used to provide the materials for the shakers they have been making, and towards the costings for the uniform that will be needed.
The Troupe are actively seeking potential sponsors and are excited for the future as we grow
The dancers have recently been invited to attend Thornton Cleveleys Gala 2021 and are hoping to be able to attend many more community events for the local areas.

Once it is safe to do so, they will practice every Wednesday and Thursday at St Nicholas Church Hall, Highbury Avenue, Fleetwood.
