Beyond the Illuminations
Look just beyond the twinkling lights of the impressive illuminations on the promenade and you’ll indulge in the visionary delight of the ever-changing colours of the sky meeting the Irish Sea. Fluffy, white clouds balancing delicately in the blue sky transform into what looks like candy floss (or cotton candy) changing from one pastel colour to the next.
Yellow clouds on pink sky, orange clouds on yellow sky and blue clouds on purple sky are just some of the breathtaking combinations that have sheltered those in Blackpool this week alone.
In this article, we’ll discover 10 of the reasons why Brits love a weekend break in Blackpool.
Blackoool’s Beautiful Seven Mile Beach
Blackpool’s beautiful, open beach stretches 7 miles, broken into sections in the sea (when the tide is in) by lively piers that stand strong, hosting fairground fun and magical memories every day that they’re open.
Blackpool beach is sandy, not rocky and is therefore perfect for family days out rich with activities and quiet sunbathing sessions rich with relaxation.

The Piers In Blackpool Are So Much Fun!
South and Central Pier are reason enough to come for a family break in Blackpool for those inclined to loud music, sweet candy floss and the sheer thrill of the fairground rides. The amusements vary from the hustle and bustle of the arcades and the most adrenaline inducing rides to the picturesque views that surround you when relaxing at the outdoor seating areas by the fish and chip shops and burger stands where tonnes of tasty refreshments are on offer.

Perfect Accommodation For A Weekend Break In Blackpool
If you’ve ever had the opportunity to travel beneath the impressive light show that is Blackpool Illuminations then you may have also noticed, adjacent to the endless, beachy view, that there are several hotels and bed and breakfasts along the promenade – all of which with rooms that have sea views, framed by the twinkling lights of the illuminations.
You’ll find a variety of prices and services when looking for the perfect place to stay on Blackpool Promenade but that certainly isn’t the only option.
You’re spoilt for choice when it comes to finding the perfect place to stay for a weekend break in Blackpool. Take Marton Mere for example, a Haven Holiday site right next to a lengthy glacial freshwater lake has almost as many attractions as the promenade but with a totally different atmosphere because the accommodation is set into the woodlands of the mere.
The Wildlife
No, not the stags and hens.
The animals! Let’s start by saying that seagulls are very generous with their presence here in Blackpool but they aren’t the only bird known to Town. We see Buff-Breasted Sandpipers, Subalpine Warblers, Western Cattle Egret and Starling to name a just a few! Not only do the birds make incredible shapes in the sky above the sea but we have multiple areas in Blackpool dedicated to Bird Spotting to the bird huts on Marton Mere to the bird watching benches in the woods by the hospital and in the park.
Just think of the photographic opportunities.

filled with various underwater creatures and lots to see and do and my personal favourite: Blackpool Zoo.
Going to Blackpool Zoo is like going abroad, whatever the weather and it’s not just the Nawali Street Food and incredible Nawali makeover on just a fraction of the zoo that give off that vibe.
There are sea-lions, red pandas, reptiles and elephants. Farm animals, almost every monkey you can think of and of course, more birds. Wolves and reindeers, giraffes and rabbits, there’s always something to see when you’re at Blackpool Zoo. There are also lots of tasty eating options such as the Lake View Café, plenty of picnic areas and the Nawali Street Food stand. There are also gift shops and fun activities such as the train, the bouncy castle and live animal shows and performances.

Our Light-Up Landmark: The Blackpool Tower
Blackpool Tower is home to floor after floor of fantastic features and entertainment. From the world famous Blackpool Tower Ballroom all the way up to the wonderful views at the heights of the tower, there is something to see and do on every floor. Blackpool Tower lights up in support of meaningful causes such as #clapforourcarers every Thursday during the UK Lockdown and when it glowed in pink to cheer on the hundreds of people that attended last year’s Race For Life.

Practice Your Sensational Swimming Skills
Days at the beach are always fun but we don’t recommend swimming in the sea unless you’re being supervised by an approved professional because it isn’t safe so, luckily, we have both indoor and outdoor pools for you to enjoy during your weekend break in Blackpool.
Go extreme with a day at Blackpool Sandcastle, home to the World’s largest indoor roller-coaster water slide which is by no means in a league of its own in terms of excitement. Blackpool Sandcastle Waterpark is full of incredible attractions, 18 exciting slides and various in-water play areas all in an 84⁰ tropical climate.
