Chas Hodges, or more famously known as “Chas” from “Chas and Dave” has passed away aged 74 after a battle against cancer. Chas had received successful treatment recently for oesophageal cancer but he passed away in the early hours of this morning. It is believed that he suffered organ failure.
Chas and Dave had a string of top 40 hits since their formation in the 1970s. Chas was diagnosed with cancer last year as they were planning their new album last year. They described their music genre as “Rockney”, which was a portmanteau of Rock and Cockney. Their sound was something of a mix between pre-Beatles rock ‘n’ roll, music hall humour and pub sing along.
Chas was a supporter of the Tottenham Hotspur’s FC and the duo released songs in support of their favourite club. Since Chas’ passing, the club have released a message of condolence for his family.
