Reports are coming in from our south shore correspondent that a police helicopter is / was operating over Blackpool.

Website Radarbox shows the Police chopper having swept a pattern along the promenade before heading inland
The helicopter a Eurocopter EC135 T2 is stationed at Barton Moss Aerodrome and is denoted by the code UKP151
It’s not yet clear what the chopper is looking for but we will update this article as information comes through.
The helicopter is now focusing attention around the Stanley Park area of the town
After another circle of the park the aircraft appears to be making it’s way out of our area back toward it’s base at Barton Moss.
Update – lifeboat spotted
During the time that these series of images were captured from Radarbox – Aaron, one of our group members on Blackpool community chat also captured a screenshot of the boatfinder app which showed that a lifeboat had been launched and was out to sea.
It’s not clear yet if this was related to the helicopters mission.

More information has come in from local Lad Lee who wrote this on our Facebook page’s comments.
“They seem to be searching between central pier and North pier, police and a few others at life boat station and some coast guards parked at North pier near the Green huts”

Police press office.
We contacted the police press office for comment and their reply was that they do not hold a log for any taskings related to the police helicopter as that is a nationally controlled asset.
Unrelated missing person
Police have also released details of a missing person they wish to trace but at this point it’s not thought to be related to the helicopter activity last night – any info or sightings should be reported to 101 quoting log 1316 of Nov 16th
