Local Estate Agent Closes Its Doors – Allitt

On Friday, one of the area’s best known estate agents closed for good. After 27 years of trade, Allitt Estate Agent, who had branches in Blackpool and Cleveleys, closed both branches. Around 10 jobs have been lost due to the closure.

The company has confirmed the closure of both locations and explained that the recession caused financial strain on the business and along with the state of the current housing market, there was no way that the firm could continue to trade.

There have been many changes to the way in which properties are advertised and sold and with these changes have come pressue to bring down the fees charged by agents. Allitt owners thanked their staff for their service over the years.

In 2003, Allitts was bought by Jim Broomhead who also owns Fylde company Broomheads. Allitts had also specialised in property auctions.

The closure of the business is sad for everyone involved.  Kevin Allitt, who originally owned the business has also expressed his sympathy to those who have lost their jobs with the closure of the business. Allitt is now Managing Director of Oystons Estate Agency.
