Spurned on by a picture posted in the FB group Blackpool memories by Local Photographer Andi Musson – This image got us wondering what a before and after picture would look like now that the row of shops has been demolished.

How it looks now
The editor visited the site just after Christ the King’s Church was demolished and filmed the footage below.

Here’s our gallery of images taken Jan 2019. There are no descriptions on the photos so you’ll have to use the other images to guide yourself through the journey We took today.
The View toward Poulton Road
Former entrance to Christ the King and socail club
Panning right
And a little further.
The view from opposite where the shops stood
Tothe side of the old social club
This once was the shops
Now just the foundations remain
As we move further back you can see more of the site.
It’s now all a big blank canvas
The view from the corner
Revealing more of the abandoned site
Now we will do a full sweep
as we click through
A panorama
A full orb
Of images captured
through 360 degrees
Whilst standing
on
one
spot
Making sure
To capture all
the possible overlap points
So it can be stitched together
at a later date
too much work for today though
Here’s the view up the avenue toward layton primary
A few from the same perspective
waited until the traffic quietened
off for a stroll around the other side now
Had honestly never realised this was here
I believe this leads to the new location for the shops. Maybe explore that another day.
is this an old nozia fascia?
nope.
right – turning around to view the site from the other angle
We’ll focus on the old shop floors next
This guy has been keeping an eye on me.
The first shop would have been the bakery
There’s not much left at all
Still some hazards on site so not suitable for kids to play on
This stone must have seen some footsteps over the years
And this will have welcomed thousands of visitors
Some of the flooring from what i think was the post office here.
more dangers poking from the ground
What I imagine was the entrance to some of the flats above.
This will have some tales to tell too
This probably held the door frame in place
Probably the power inlet for the whole building.
I assume this os from being used as a store room having wheels and boxes dragged around.
Another stairwell possibly
What was more recently the one stop shop.
this would have once been filled with children playing and families sunbathing – all enjoying the british weather.
these houses caught my eye
Now it’s all home to the crows
